The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF) has been developed and is awarded qualifications and sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The RQF is a qualification framework regulated by Ofqual. This qualification is supported by Skills for Care, the sector skills council for the adult social care sector in England. This qualification supports a role within the workplace. The content is appropriate for learners in a variety of settings in adult social care including residential care, domiciliary care or day centres. It is also suitable for lead personal assistants who work as part of a personal assistant team at a senior level. The qualification aims to develop further, specialist skills and knowledge in learners’ areas of responsibility which will enable them to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement, for example. Learners will have responsibility for assessing performance and quality of care delivery and they will provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues. This qualification supports delivery of the Lead Practitioner in Adult Care apprenticeship standard.
On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:
• Highfield Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Adult Care (RQF)
• Specialist qualifications in adult care or healthcare
• Qualifications in coaching or mentoring
There are no prerequisites for this qualification, however It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16+.
Learners Must be working or volunteering in the care sector.
Additionally, it is recommended that learners are able to demonstrate prior achievement of qualifications at a minimum of Level 3 in a related area. It is recommended that learners will have completed a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
This qualification is assessed through completion of a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed and internally quality assured by the centre.

The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF) qualification is assessed through completion of a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed and internally quality assured by the centre. Learners must complete and pass the qualification to a standard of 70 Credit Value to obtain the full Diploma. Including 11 Mandatory Unit group and a minimum of 2 units from the Optional group.
